Unconscious dialogue: Language forms our movements. Our movements influence the spoken word. But the connection is complicated. Because body and language communicate with and through gaps, translation, shifts. A secret, but powerful interaction, that governs the own self as well as the dealings with others.

In their choreographic work, Christina Ciupke and Nik Haffner go beyond the boundaries between other disciplines and the media. Subtitles is their first jointly developed piece – a dancing investigation of the interdependency between language and movement.

Subtitles doesn´t just provoke personal but also relevant social questions: How I am affected by mundane announcements and indications? How does spoken communication work? Where are the boundaries and when does manipulation start? A dancing investigation of the interdependancy between language and movement.
